ViewSonic has launched the LSD500-4K, a 4K UHD laser projector geared at large venues, classrooms, commercial and hospitality spaces. It boasts 5,000 ANSI lumens and screen sizes up to 300 inches. The 30,000 life-span of the laser engine means less maintenance is required, making it ideal for these types of spaces. Compared to traditional lamp-based models, the LSD500-4K reduces energy consumption by up to 49%.
The projector uses a 0.65-inch Texas Instruments DMD chip and supports HDR10 and HLG, meaning ambient light is not an issue. ViewSonic’s third-generation laser phosphor light source represents brightness that is 20% higher than the previous generation. In addition, the projectors footprint has shrunk by 32%, making installations much simpler than previous models in the line.
The optics include a 1.6x optical zoom, full keystone correction (vertical, horizontal, and four-corner), 360° rotation support, and a portrait mode for vertical installations — useful for digital signage, retail displays, or projection mapping. The cooling system is rated for 24/7 operation, which makes it viable for always-on venues like museums, shopping centers, and hotel lobbies.
The LSD500-4K offers a variety of connectivity options, including HDMI 2.0b with HDCP 2.3, USB Type-A port (5V power for wireless dongles), an RJ45 LAN port, an RS232 port, and a 3.5 mm audio output. It is certified for both Crestron and Q-SYS ecosystems, making it easy for AV integrators to manage multi-projector setups across large installations running centralized control systems.
There’s also a dedicated Golf Mode that optimizes green and blue color reproduction for grass and sky tones which caters to golf simulators and sports bars showing live broadcasts.
