Leyard and Planar (a Leyard company) have expanded their SimplicityTM Series Full HD LCD display line to now include 4K UHD resolution models. The new 4K models (SL4364K, SL5564K, SL6564K, SL7564K and SL8664K) are available in five screen sizes, ranging from 43 to 86 inches. They were designed to provide an affordable yet robust digital signage solution that delivers 4K content.
The Simplicity Series is so named because each display has built-in signage tools to streamline installation and be ready to operate without the need for third-party equipment. These direct-lit LED LCD displays, made for landscape orientation, feature 350 nits of typical brightness, and a 5000:1 contrast ratio. Designed to run for up to 16 hours a day in commercial settings such as retail, quick-serve restaurants, medical offices, corporate meeting areas or any budget-conscious application, the Simplicity Series displays are built with two 10W speakers, USB media playback with on/off scheduling, LAN distribution and an OPS expansion slot (on models sized 65” and up). The displays run quietly due to a fan-less design and also have narrow logo-free bezels and a slim profile for a sleek look.
The Planar Simplicity Series displays have a comprehensive set of inputs and external controls, including VGA, two HDCP 2.2-compliant HDMI 2.0 ports to support native 4K resolution at up to 60Hz, two USB, RS-232 and IR remote control. Further, the 43” and 55” models have a DVI input and the 65”, 75” and 86” models have a DisplayPort input. For convenience, the back of the displays are built with VESA mounting hole patterns, a lockable keypad, and a Kensington security slot.
PMA Research, a leading analyst firm covering market trends for the display industry, reported that February 2018 North American sales of professional-grade large-format LCD displays featuring 4K UHD resolution had a year-over-year unit volume increase of more than 3.5 times.
