Major Price Shifts in DVLED

November 6, 2026

Data from PMA Research’s latest Quarterly DVLED Sell-through Tracker show marked declines in average prices paid per area of LED based displays. This occurring even as the pixel pitch continues to decline, boosting resolution capabilities across the installed base.

Using the size of underlying DVLED modules, cabinets and arrays that are reported as sold through pro AV distributors, installers, and dealers, allows for effective calculation of the total area of the displays being installed. Combining this with the total revenue on those same sales yields an average price paid per square meter.

These metrics end up providing a more reliable indicator of DVLED display volume than units, given the variation in the definition of a ‘unit’ across the channel. Some capture this as a number of modules (as the smallest DVLED component, cabinets (or sets of modules), arrays (configurations of cabinets), bundles (a package of components arranged to a determined screen size), all-in-ones (a full contained product or set, also at a fixed screen size), and fully custom applications with varying configurations. Thus units provide no real sense of trend.

The net result of this aggregation and mapping work is demonstrated in the chart below, showing the average price per square meter. Note the drop starting as a small shift in Q1 of 2026 and gaining momentum through Q3, with the price falling 41% since Q4 of 2025. This marks a serious shift in affordability of DVLED during this time. The spoiler alert here is that this means that while more screens are being installed, the corresponding revenues are not growing. But the margin on these installs may be improving. The data does not show this with any certainty.

One thing that is known is the average pixel pitch which does show a continual drop, though with a small plateau over the past 2 quarters. The average across DVLED product sold at this point is around 1.6mm, down from over 1.8mm back in 2023. Check out the below for the trendline here.

All of this is good news for the channel, particularly when taken on top of the stronger sales of displays through distributors and pro AV dealers over the past 3 months. This may indicate a stronger finish to 2026 than it started as some demand finally gets released, particularly for digital signage applications.  Want to get more on these trends? Make sure to subscribe to both the flat panel and DVLED trackers published by PMA Research, the display arm of Apogee Insight, Inc.
