BenQ has announced the AK900ST and AK800ST, new home entertainment projectors aimed at golf simulation. With the help of AI, both projectors are designed to deliver a realistic indoor‑golf simulation experience. BenQ said the launch marks their first step in bringing AI into their projector portfolio, and that the company will continue to advance AI‑driven automation and adaptive display technologies.
The AK900ST and AK800ST incorporate BenQ AI Sim Sense, a new proprietary image‑enhancement system powered by an onboard APU. The technology analyzes the entire simulation environment, from course content to ambient lighting and the impact screen. It then adjusts color, contrast and clarity in real time. This results in more natural course colors, and a more accurate terrain perception.
Both projectors feature Auto Screen Fit 2.0, which detects whether the impact screen is curved or flat and aligns the image accordingly. Auto Focus provides automatic image calibration, and Ambient Visual Enhancer adapts the light output to the room’s ambient conditions. These features result in easy set-up and calibration.
Technical specs include 6,000 lumens powered by a laser-light engine, and native 4K UHD images. The projectors feature a 16:9 aspect ratio, 3,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and 30-bit color processing covering 97% of the Rec 709 color space. Also onboard are motorized vertical and horizontal lens shift, zoom lens capabilities and keystone correction.
A wide range of connectivity options are available as well, including HDMI, RJ45, USB-A and RS232. Also onboard are a 10-watt speaker and a 10-watt sub-woofer. With the global golf‑simulator market expanding rapidly, the launch of the AK900ST and AK800ST projectors are timely. Golf simulation has shifted from simply a home practice tool to a popular entertainment platform at venues like Top Golf. With this shift, realistic imagery has become a key differentiator. BenQ’s approach is to combine AI‑enhanced picture processing with automated setup features that reduce installation time for both commercial venues and home‑golf enthusiasts.
The projectors also double as solid home entertainment displays. Scene Memory allows users to switch between eleven presets, such as golf simulation, movies, gaming and sports. Dual‑source Picture‑in‑Picture enables golfers to watch online tutorials alongside the simulation, giving beginners a way to mirror techniques in real time.
The AK900ST and AK800ST will be available for purchase later this month for $5,999 and $3,999 respectively.
