NEC is focused on education and offers versatile technology solutions for a variety of applications while also providing the robust reliability needed for on-campus environments. NEC’s C Series and V Series signage displays can help schools provide important messaging to students and their CB Series displays can help teachers present engaging content to students both in the classroom and in remote locations.
NEC’s C Series and V Series displays can be deployed for on-campus signage applications to provide timely messaging, such as social distancing health directives and hybrid class schedules. The C Series panels range from 65 to 98-inches and includes models C651Q, C751Q, C861Q and C981Q. The V Series panels rage from 55 to 98-inches and includes models V554Q, V654Q, V754Q, V864Q and V984Q. Both Series feature automated on-off scheduling that can be programmed so the displays will be only be on during school hours when school is in session.
The C and V series both offer clear UHD imagery for digital messaging with a slim tamper-resistant metal chassis. The NEC C Series boasts 350 – 400 nits of brightness and the V Series ups that to 500 nits to increase readability in higher ambient light situations. Both Series have anti-glare screens allowing content to be viewable and readable in any situation.
These displays also come equipped with a wide range of convenient connectivity interfaces, such as HDMI and DisplayPort. The on-board multimedia player can be used for simple signage applications by allowing auto-play from USB or SD card and content transfer via LAN. For more advanced signage applications, these displays have OPS and Raspberry Pi Compute module slots giving the user the opportunity to expand computing integration for more sophisticated cable-free signage capabilities.
The built-in thermal management system with automated cooling fans protects the displays from damaging heat. Internal temperature sensors monitor when to turn the fans on and off. The thermal management system allows for 24/7 operation and extends the life of the product.
Adding to its versatility beyond signage, the C and V Series are also fully compatible with Cisco’s WebEx Kit. Pairing one of the displays with a WebEx Kit forms a complete video conferencing system. Additionally, 75” and 86” models from both Series can be paired with an NEC IR touch overlay.
NEC’s Collaborative Board (CB Series) is an all-in-one teaching solution to help teachers engage students, whether they are present in the classroom or in remote locations. CB Series displays come preloaded with Mosaic Canvas interactive whiteboarding software and Mosaic Connect wireless presenting software that are easy to use and require no special setup.
The NEC collaborative board includes a 10-point IR touch-enabled display with built-in Linux-based SoC and speakers. The CB Series offers a reliable touch experience with either the included passive pens or a finger. The ergonomic passive pens have a magnetic attachment to the front of the display to help prevent the pens from getting lost. The CB Series displays have UHD resolution, 350 nits brightness, anti-glare screens and are available in 65”, 75”, and 86” sizes. The models are CB651Q, CB751Q and CB861Q.
With Canvas, multiple users can annotate on the display at the same time. Canvas allows users to zoom in and out on the whiteboard and focus on selected work with the magnifier. Users can import image files and annotate on top of them. They can also customize their tool palette to drag and drop favorite tools for quick access.
The Connect wireless presenting software supports Chrome, Windows 10, iOS, and Android operating systems and allows up to 4 users to connect, share and make notations on top of shared content via their Internet-connected devices at once.
The integrated Slot-In PC option future-proofs the display and simplifies both the form and the installation. Additional HDMI 2.0 w/ USB 2.0 connectivity inputs allow touch to be supported by simply switching inputs. Interface is through either the Connect App which allows for USB control of the device, or through a HTML5 browser like Chrome.
PMA Research (PMA), the worldwide market information experts on large displays, has published their latest sell-through tracking report on large-format (32-inch and larger) flat panel displays being sold by leading U.S. Distributors who serve commercial markets. The data in that report showed that 65″ and 75″ models accounted for nearly half of the interactive flat panel display units sold in May, with the majority of those being sold to schools in advance of the coming school year.
