For more than 15 years now, PMA Research has collected monthly sell-through data from leading North American projector dealers, retailers, web resellers and distributors. Their Tracking Service family of monthly reports offers timely sell-through data and analysis on unit sales, true volume-weighted street prices, and inventories of front projectors for these channels.
Each month, PMA Research posts the Top 5 Projector Lists for the following product categories:
Mainstream (1000 to 3999 lumens) Projectors – For the Mainstream category, the May results show that four of the “Top 5” best selling models were XGA resolution and in the 2600 – 2800 lumen range. NEC took top honors with the NP-M271X and also filled the number five spot with their NP-VE281X. InFocus took the second and third spots with the IN112 (SVGA) and IN114, respectively. Epson rounded out the “Top 5” with the PowerLite 93+ coming in fourth. This “Top 5″ list is compiled from data collected from PMA’s monthly Distributor Projector Tracking Service sample, which is made up of North American distributors.
High-End (4000+ lumens) Projectors – For High-End projectors, the May 2013 results showed that three of the five best selling models were WXGA resolution. For the second month in a row, Mitsubishi had three models making the list. The Mitsubishi XD700, Mitsubishi WD720 and Mitsubishi WD3300 came in first, second and fourth, respectively. Rounding out the High-End list were Epson with the PowerLite 1945W in third place, and Hitachi with the CP-X4015WN in the fifth spot. This “Top 5″ list is compiled from data collected from PMA’s monthly Pro AV Projector Tracking Service sample, which is made up of North American dealers and integrators.
Pico and Personal (sub-1000 lumens) Projectors – For Pico and Personal projectors, the May results showed WXGA models in the 300 – 500 lumen range to be the most popular. 3M took top honors with the best-selling MP410. Optoma filled the number two, three and four spots with the PK-320, the ML500 and the ML300, respectively. AAXA claimed the fifth spot with the P3 Pico. This “Top 5″ list is compiled from data collected from PMA’s monthly Retail Projector Tracking Service sample, which is made up of North American retailers and web resellers.
