San Juan Capistrano, California – May 29, 2019. PMA Research (PMA), the worldwide market information experts on large displays, has published their latest sell-through tracking report on large-format (32” and larger) flat panel displays being sold by leading North American Pro AV Dealers and Systems Integrators who serve commercial markets.
Unit volume for models featuring 4K UHD resolution have increased more than 100% year-over-year. The revenues for these models grew at a lesser pace for the same period due to an 18% drop in average selling prices over that time. April revenues for 4K UHD models still represented the lions’ share of the total reported large-format FPD revenues for April in the Pro AV channel, as FHD models continue to be phased out in favor of higher resolution 4K UHD models.
Also aiding the positive April sales month were models with System-on-Chip features and 24/7 operation capabilities. Unit volumes of displays built with System-on-Chip computing architecture continued to grow with a three-fold year-over-year increase. Additionally, unit sales of flat panel displays rated for 24/7 operation nearly doubled from April last year. Other bright spots included 98-inch models and touch-enabled displays. Despite the growth in unit volume for this category, YoY revenues in this segment are relatively flat reflecting the decrease in average selling prices due to heavy competition in this market.
