San Juan Capistrano, California – October 25, 2018. PMA Research (PMA), the worldwide market information experts on large displays, has published their latest sell-through tracking report on large-format (32” and larger) flat panel displays and projectors being sold by leading U.S. AV/IT Distributors who serve commercial markets. PMA Research is the only analyst firm combining tracking data for these two product categories into one report to allow for total display market tracking, and easy comparisons between these display product segments.
Year-over-year, unit volume and revenues for combined sales of flat panel displays and projectors were both up from 3Q2017 with revenues growing 15% and unit sales rising 21% over last year. In addition, January through September 2018 year-to-date revenues and unit sales both ran more than 20% ahead of YTD figures for the same period last year. This uptick in display sales is in part attributed to a strong second quarter where K-12 education sales were quite robust.
Interactive display sales rose again in the third quarter, and this growth was concentrated in the interactive projection space where sales rose more than 50% and revenues rose even more over 3Q2017. In addition, the average selling price for 90+” flat panel displays rose in the third quarter largely because of increased sales volume for 98″ models which nearly doubled from 2Q2018 to 3Q2018, significantly increasing the average selling price for the 90+” category.
PMA’s Professional All Displays Distributor Tracking Report offers timely sell-through data and analysis on unit sales and true volume-weighted wholesale prices of Large-Format Flat Panel Displays and Projectors sold by leading Distributors in the United States. This report is unique in that it combines flat panel and projector sell-through data into one report, making it easy to compare and analyze these different display product segments.
