For more than 25 years now, PMA Research has collected monthly sell-through data from leading U.S. projector dealers, retailers, web resellers, and distributors. Their Tracking Service family of monthly reports offers timely data and analysis on unit sales, true volume-weighted street prices, and inventories of front projectors for these channels.
Each month, PMA Research posts their “Top 5” Projector Lists for the following categories:
Mainstream Professional Projectors – This “Top 5″ list is compiled from PMA’s monthly Distributor Projector Tracking Service panel, which is made up of IT, Pro AV, and CEDIA distributors. Among Mainstream projectors, Epson swept the “Top 5” list in January. Four PowerLite models – the 107, X39, 109W and 108 — came in first, second, third and fifth, respectively. The interactive BrightLink 695Wi rounded out the Mainstream projector list in the fifth spot.
5,000+ Lumen Projectors – This “Top 5″ list is compiled from PMA’s monthly Pro AV Projector Tracking Service panel, which is made up of Pro AV dealers and systems integrators. In the 5,000+ Lumen projector category, the January results showed Sony with a pair of projectors on this “Top 5” list. The Sony VPL-PHZ10 and VPL-PWZ10 came in first and fifth, respectively. Epson followed with a pair of PowerLite projectors – the L610W and 5535U coming in second and third, respectively. Hitachi rounded out the January “Top 5” list with the CP-WU5505 taking the fourth spot.
Home Entertainment Projectors – This “Top 5″ list is compiled from PMA’s monthly Retail Projector Tracking Service panel, which is made up of U.S. retailers, web resellers, and custom installers. In the Home Entertainment projector category, Epson had a pair of projectors make the “Top 5” list in January. The PowerLite Home Cinema 2150 was the month’s best-selling projector, and their PowerLite Home Cinema 1060 took the fourth spot. BenQ also had a pair of projectors make the Home Entertainment “Top 5” list. The BenQ HT2050A and the BenQ MH530FHD came in second and fifth, respectively. Optoma rounded out the January list with their HD143X in third place.
