San Juan Capistrano, California – June 25, 2018. PMA Research (PMA), the worldwide market information experts on large displays, has published their latest set of sell-through tracking reports on large-format (32” and larger) flat panel displays being sold by leading U.S. Pro AV Dealers and Systems Integrators who serve commercial markets.
The May 2018 PMA Research Pro AV Flat Panel Tracking report showed strong growth in the sales of professional models with volumes and revenues both up by double-digits on a month-over-month and year-over-year basis. This growth in May is attributed to strong sales of larger screen sizes, particularly 55” – 75” models, 4K UHD models and models with Interactive capabilities.
Models with touchscreens and interactive capabilities grew to 20% of the total volume in May. Unit sales for touch-enabled models were up substantially over April and nearly triple from May last year as the education buying season heated up. The most popular screen size, by far, was 75” and volume growth was five-fold for the 75 to 79-inch range. The bulk of the sales in this interactive segment were for brands that primarily serve the education market
The growth trend for models featuring 4K UHD resolution continued in May as unit volume increased by double-digits over last month and more than tripled from May last year.
