PMA Research (PMA), the worldwide market information experts on large displays, has published their latest sell-through tracking report on large-format (32” and larger) flat panel displays being sold by leading U.S. Pro AV Dealers and Systems Integrators who serve commercial markets.
Sales volume of displays primarily designed to be assembled into video walls with ultra-narrow bezels (less than or equal to 6.5mm combined) increased nearly 30% compared to February last year. In addition, sales of models with a brightness rating between 650 and 800 nits have nearly doubled in unit volume from a year ago February. And, unit volume for models featuring 4K UHD resolution have increased more than 40% year-over-year.
While the uptick in unit sales for these product segments is positive, there are also some key pricing trends related to screen size which are notable. Interactive 75″ display pricing fell 5% in February after steady declines in the fourth quarter 2018. Average selling prices in this segment were down 20% compared to February last year. Interactive 86″ display pricing dropped by 11% in February due to aggressive pricing from brands supplying the education market. Finally, 98″ display unit volume has risen 60% from February 2018 but average selling prices have been reduced by half over the same period.
