For more than 16 years now, PMA Research has collected monthly sell-through data from leading North American projector dealers, retailers, web resellers and distributors. Their Tracking Service family of monthly reports offers timely data and analysis on unit sales, true volume-weighted street prices, and inventories of front projectors for these channels.
Each month, PMA Research posts the “Top 5” Projector Lists for the following product categories:
Home Entertainment Projectors – This “Top 5″ list is compiled from data collected from PMA’s monthly Retail Projector Tracking Service panel, which is made up of North American retailers and web resellers. For Home Entertainment projectors, the May results showed BenQ with the two best-selling models. The BenQ W1070 was the top-selling projector for the fifth month in a row, and the W1080ST followed in second place. Epson also had a pair of projectors make the top home entertainment projector list with the PowerLite Home Cinema 730HD and PowerLite Home Cinema 2030 filling the number three and five spots, respectively. Optoma rounded out this list with their HD25e coming in fourth.
Mainstream Projectors – This “Top 5″ list is compiled from data collected from PMA’s monthly Distributor Projector Tracking Service panel, which is made up of North American distributors. For the Mainstream segment, Epson had the three best-selling projectors in May with the PowerLite 97, PowerLite X17, and PowerLite 98 coming in first, second and third, respectively. InFocus followed with the IN112a in the fourth spot, and NEC rounded out this “Top 5” list with the NP-M322X in fifth.
High-End Projectors – This “Top 5″ list is compiled from data collected from PMA’s monthly Pro AV Projector Tracking Service panel, which is made up of North American dealers and integrators. For High-End projectors, Epson took top honors in May with the best-selling PowerLite 1940W. Panasonic followed in second place with the PT-DZ570. Hitachi landed the third spot with the CP-WX4022WN, and NEC filled the fourth spot with the NP-P401W. Sony rounded out this “Top 5” list with the VPL-FHZ55/W.
