San Juan Capistrano, California – November 10, 2014. PMA Research (PMA), the worldwide market information experts on large displays, has announced the launch of their latest report series – the Pro AV Flat Panel Display (FPD) Tracking Report. Available by annual subscription, these monthly reports offer an in-depth analysis of the U.S. Professional large-format (32” and above) display market. The FPD Tracking reports are compiled from actual monthly sell-through data provided by a panel of leading U.S. Pro AV dealers and integrators who serve commercial markets.
Each month, the Pro AV Flat Panel Tracking Report will highlight monthly unit sales and revenues, brand shares, and include a Top Models listing which shows by-model unit sales and revenues, as well as true sell-through average street pricing. In addition, the Top Models listing will outline each model’s integrated computing features such as SmartTV functionality, Integrated PC availability, media player options and Open Pluggable Specification-compliance.
“This monthly tracking report looks at market specific trends for large displays being sold for commercial installations such as entertainment venues, corporate auditoriums and conference rooms, digital signage and video walls,” explains Rosemary Abowd, Sr. Analyst with PMA. “It identifies patterns in the sell-through channel such as the placement of commercial-grade models vs. consumer-grade models in business environments, the trend toward tuner-enabled displays in corporate installations, the shifting prices for models above 70-inches, and the growth of ultra-high definition unit sales over the past 12 months.”
PMA’s September FPD report showed unit sales in the Pro AV channel grew 7% and revenues increased 13% over the previous month on strong sales of +70-inch models. Sharp’s LC-70LE650U led the way as the top overall model, and NEC’s E554 was the second best-selling model during the month.
In addition, the report includes a key segments analysis, which looks at sales by product type and a host of specifications, such as flat panel size, tuner capability and backlight technology, among others.
PMA’s latest key segments analysis showed that direct-lit, 1080p, 50 to 59 inch models without tuners led on a revenue basis. That segment’s ASP topped $5,000 during September, as new professional-grade models appeared from several premium commercial brands. On a volume basis, tuner-enabled, direct-lit, 1080p, 40 to 49 inch models was the leading segment.
