San Juan Capistrano, California – July 27, 2022. PMA Research (PMA), the worldwide market information experts on large displays, has published their latest All-Displays sell-through tracking report on professional large-format flat panel displays (32” and larger) and professional projectors (above 500 lumens) being sold by leading U.S. Distributors who serve commercial markets.
Professional display unit sales through distribution rose by low double digits over the first quarter of 2022 and grew by single digits over 2Q2021, which was the strongest quarter of last year. Revenues fared even better, rising 12% from last quarter and 26% from 2Q2021.
While average prices for flat panel displays rose or remained elevated this quarter, projector pricing declined as more of the value-priced models were delivered to K-12 buyers. Still, average prices for the popular 4000 – 6999 lumen laser projectors prices remained above last year’s prices. The average price of an interactive projector was one third cheaper than the average price of a 75-inch iFPD this quarter.
The second quarter has historically been the strongest quarter for projector sales into education. Most of the growth this quarter was in the projector segment. Projector unit sales in June pushed second quarter projector market share up 7 points despite chronic supply shortages and steep backlogs for the most popular models. Interactive flat panel display sales grew more than 60% over last quarter and the same quarter last year. The increase in interactive sales contributed significantly to the revenue growth this quarter.
PMA’s monthly All-Displays Distributor Tracking report offers timely sell-through data and analysis on unit sales and market trends of projectors and large-format flat panel displays sold by leading U.S. AV and IT Distributors. These reports are ideal for tracking product and channel trends.
