San Juan Capistrano, California – September 26, 2024. PMA Research (PMA), the worldwide market information experts on large displays, have published their latest sell-through tracking reports on large-format (32-inch and larger) flat panel displays being sold by leading North American distributors who typically serve commercial markets.
In August, there were increased sales for 98-inch and larger LCD displays into the corporate sector, which is a good indication that the corporate market is reviving. Also, some flat panel display manufacturers are seeing an increase in government activity, which is common heading into the fourth quarter.
Some of the unit volume uptick in sales of these “Jumbo” displays can be attributed to falling prices. During the third quarter of last year, the average selling price of a 100-inch to 105-inch LCD display was above $8,500. This year, the price for those largest models has fallen to about $6,500. Much of the decline is because of an influx of low-priced Chinese brands, particularly in the +100” segment.
So far, the falling prices have boosted revenue growth for this display segment slightly. Revenues were up about 1% when compared to August a year ago, with significantly higher volumes completely offsetting the reduced prices.
PMA’s monthly Flat Panel Distributor Tracking report offers timely sell-through data and analysis on unit sales and market trends of large-format displays sold by leading U.S. AV and IT Distributors. These reports are ideal for tracking product and channel trends.
