For more than 20 years now, PMA Research has collected monthly sell-through data from leading U.S. projector dealers, retailers, web resellers, and distributors. Their Tracking Service family of monthly reports offers timely data and analysis on unit sales, true volume-weighted street prices, and inventories of front projectors for these channels.
Each month, PMA Research posts their “Top 5” Projector Lists for the following categories:
Mainstream Professional Projectors – This “Top 5″ list is compiled from PMA’s monthly Distributor Projector Tracking Service panel, which is made up of IT, Pro AV, and CEDIA distributors. Among Mainstream projectors, Epson swept the “Top 5” list in the Mainstream category in June with three PowerLite models – the X39, the 107 and the 109W coming in first, third and fifth, respectively. Two interactive BrightLink models rounded out this “Top 5” list with the 695Wi taking the second spot and the 685Wi coming in fourth.
5,000+ Lumen Projectors – This “Top 5″ list is compiled from PMA’s monthly Pro AV Projector Tracking Service panel, which is made up of Pro AV dealers and systems integrators. In the 5,000+ Lumen projector category, the June results showed Sony with a pair of best-selling models. The VPL-PHZ10 and the VPL-PWZ10 coming in first and fifth, respectively. Panasonic’s PT-RZ570 W/B took the second spot, and NEC’s NP-P502WL-2 came in third. Epson rounded out this June “Top 5” list with their PowerLite 2250U coming in fourth. Most of these top models incorporate Laser/Phosphor illumination, which reflects the ongoing transition from lamp-based models among higher-brightness projectors.
Home Entertainment Projectors – This “Top 5″ list is compiled from PMA’s monthly Retail Projector Tracking Service panel, which is made up of U.S. retailers and web resellers. In the Home Entertainment projector category, Optoma had a pair of projectors make the “Top 5” list in June. The Optoma HD143X was the month’s best-selling projector, and their HD142X came in third. Epson also had a pair of top-selling projectors in the Home Entertainment category. The PowerLite Home Cinema 2150 was the second-best selling home theater projector in June, and the PowerLite Home Cinema 1060 came in fourth. BenQ rounded out this June “Top 5” list with the HT2050A in fifth.
