Vivitek Europe has added two new Ultra-Short Throw projectors to their line-up. The DH772UST and DH773USTi have been designed with the budget-conscious education segment in mind. These native 1080p models do support 4K content making them a cost-effective alternative to flat panels in classrooms where a larger screen size is preferable for viewing from greater distances. Both models support 4K (3840×2160) video and feature an upgraded laser module for easy viewing in high ambient light environments. The DH772UST and DH773USTi offer a 110” diagonal projection image from as little as 51centimeters away from a screen or wall. In addition, these projectors offer 3,500 lumens of brightness, 1080p resolution, and 10,000:1 contrast ratio. Finally, these new classroom projectors include two 10W speakers and microphone input to ensure that audio is also crisp and clear.
Eco-friendly and energy saving features include a sleep timer and auto-power-off function, which powers down the projectors automatically when these is now signal detected. The DH772UST & DH773USTi offer up to 12,000 hours of lamp-life, and a five year education warranty. Network monitoring and management solutions come standard – including Crestron® RoomView™. Also standard is Vivitek’s NovoConnect, a wireless collaboration solution which enables students to participate from their own digital device directly on the screen to share up to four devices simultaneously.
For interactive collaboration and in-class learning, the DH773USTi comes with built-in interactivity support for multiple users via two pens or an optional 10-point Finger Touch Unit . The interactive pen can be used as the computer mouse without the complications of installing a driver to support mouse functionality. The DH772UST and DH773USTi are available immediately for summer installation.
Analyst firm PMA Research provides market data and forecast information to the Display Industry. While sales of projectors have slowed substantially during the first half of 2020 due to the worldwide pandemic, there may be a silver lining for the projector industry. When students return to the classroom, social distancing guidelines will mean that students will need to be spaced further apart and further back in classrooms. This could see projectors regaining some of the ground lost in recent years to Flat Panels, as projection offers a lower cost per square inch for larger screen sizes.
