TV giant TCL has launched its first entry into the mobile projector category with the introduction of the TCL Projector A1. This portable projector is a Google TV-powered device that also works as a standalone stereo Bluetooth speaker. The integration of Google TV brings Google Assistant voice commands (via the included voice remote) and the ability to use Google Cast to stream or mirror a variety of content from your smartphone to the A1 via Wi-Fi.
TCL says the integrated Dolby Audio offers twin built-in speakers with 8 watts of power each, and when you’re not using the A1 for visual entertainment, it can be switched to Bluetooth speaker mode. Audio features include bass boost, AI Audio, Standard, Movie, Music, and Sport sound preset options. An LED display on the sides of the projector can be turned on when in Bluetooth speaker mode to display a mini light show.
The Projector A1 has full HD resolution, an LCD optical system which utilizes a LED light source capable of delivering up to 360 ISO Lumens of brightness. The A1 also features an advanced auto set up system that can take care of focus, keystone and screen alignment without any manual intervention. The TCL VersaGrip handle doubles as a stand to provide easy transport and versatile placement – pull up for easy carrying or push down to adjust the projector angle for optimal viewing.
The projector supports front, rear, front ceiling or rear ceiling positioning, and TCL claims that it’s capable of delivering image sizes from 45-inches to 120-inches. The projector is not battery-powered so users will need a power source.
The TCL Projector A1 is currently available with an MSRP $499.
