Sony recently announced the BRAVIA Projector 7 (VPL-XW5100ES) which incorporates their XR Processor, previously only available in their higher end models. The XR processor allows for picture quality functions like up-conversion, motion processing and HDR tone mapping.
The XR processor is extremely effective at mapping high dynamic range content and maintains dark shadow details and bright highlights in content. The BRAVIA Projector 7 also features Sony’s XR Deep Black technology. The XR processor takes precise control of the laser light source, allowing for deep blacks and shadow details on the screen, while also improving overall power efficiency.
Sony has always paid great attention to color with their displays. The XR TRILUMINOS PRO color processor built into the Projector 7 supports over a billion colors for true-to-life color reproduction. Finally, up-conversion is achieved using XR Clear Image processing, which uses an AI-driven database to recreate lost detail and eliminate noise and other artifacts from low resolution, compressed content.
The BRAVIA Projector 7 also features a laser light source and 3-Chip 4K native SXRD imaging engine. It also offers 2,200 lumens brightness, and manual focus, zoom and lens shift for flexible installation options. It’s housed in a smaller chassis than it’s predecessors, making it lighter and easier to mount. The BRAVIA Projector 7 is available with black or white color options.
The BRAVIA 7 was designed with home entertainment in mind. Gamers will appreciate the HDMI 2.1 inputs which support 4K/120 fps with just a 12ms input lag. Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) provides smooth and clear movement for responsive and immersive gameplay. BRAVIA Projector 7 includes IMAX Enhanced support for a more immersive viewing experience on compatible content.
Finally, the BRAVIA Projector 7 is fully compatible with leading home automation platforms like Control4, Crestron, Savant, and AMX. It is expected to start shipping sometime this spring.
