Sony recently unveiled their new Digital Motion Picture Center (DMPC) at Sony Picture Studios in Culver City, CA. The demo and training facility will officially open on May 1st, and will offer hands-on training for directors, cinematographers and other film and TV professionals. Initial training is slated specifically for Sony’s new F65 CineAlta digital motion picture camera and new 4K workflow solutions.
The center will showcase an end-to-end solution from Sony. Content creators will be able to shoot 4K content, process it through an on-site 4K workflow and then view their results on a Sony 4K projector.
Projector market research firm Pacific Media Associates has been following the Digital Cinema market, from a projector standpoint, since it’s inception. With Digital Cinema installations at an all time high, this commitment to training on the production side will be sure to move this market forward – ultimately making for a better viewing experience for the movie-viewing consumer.
