CEDIA trade show attendees got the first look at two new high-end home theater projectors from SIM2 this week in Indianapolis – the CINEMAQUATTRO 4K 3-chip DLP projector and the SIRIO active 3D single-chip DLP projector.
The CINEMAQUATTRO was developed in partnership with Christie, because SIM2 feels they are one of today’s leading display technology providers when it comes to 4K projection. Here are some of the key specs: three 4K (4096 x 2160) 1.38” DLP Chipsets, up to 20,000 ANSI Lumens, Triple Flash 3D Technology, SIM2 Exclusive High Contrast and Colorimetry Profiles, a user replaceable Xenon Bubble Lamp, and remote monitoring capabilities. The CINEMAQUATTRO will be available in Q4 2012 through select SIM2 dealers.
This SIRIO single-chip 3D DLP projector is designed for use in entertainment systems where high light output is needed. The SIRIO projector, powered by a dual 350W lamp system delivers images with up to 6,000 ANSI lumens and a contrast ratio of 6,000:1. SIRIO is available with a choice of two different SIM2 color wheel options SIM2Color or SIM2Shine, each designed to offer optimal performance in color and brightness. Connectivity includes HDMI 1.4 and LAN inputs and there are 5 different optional lenses available.
A recent consumer end-user survey by projector market research firm Pacific Media Associates found that interest in home theater projectors is up. A higher portion (18%) of large-screen shoppers expect to buy a projector vs. other types of large displays compared with their previous survey (11%). True videophiles will surely consider these new SIM2 models.
