SIM2 has launched the Crystal 4 Sh Superhybrid laser projector, and touts it as “the best SIM2 middle high-end product we’ve ever made”. This new projector was designed with the home entertainment enthusiast in mind, and features a high-precision lens, the company’s newest hybrid laser light source, and the latest 0.66-inch Texas Instruments DLP DMD chip with state-of-the-art processing and HDR management.
Color accuracy was top of mind during the product development of the Crystal 4 Sh Superhybrid. This SIM2 model claims a perfect white point color combined with an expanded color space which exceeds 80% of the DCI standard. It also utilizes the latest developments in the blue laser-phosphor technology to combine high brightness with a color gamut that exceeds the REC709 color space. SIM2’s proprietary PC software, LCC 4.0 (Live Colour Calibration) is include, and h allows accurate automatic color calibration. For videophiles who like to tinker, a color probe and the projector can be connected to to a PC, and the software enables graphic adjustment of both the primary and secondary colors to arrive at the optimal color. The process can also be set to run automatically.
Image quality was also prioritized when designing this projector. The Crystal 4 Sh Superhybrid uses a high resolution, low dispersion 1.6x zoom projection lens, coupled with the high performance of the 0.66-inch DMD to produce very low background light and high contrast levels. SIM2’s Anticlipping Contrast Adjustment technology automatically adapts the parameters of the projector to the various Blu-ray discs — in particular to the ‘nits’ of the disc — preventing the clipping of the image in the bright parts. This results in a rich and detailed image. The Superhybrid mode dramatically improves the contrast by dynamically syncing all the parameters of the projector in combination with the laser source.
The design of the cooling system and the solid 7mm crystal glass cabinet make the Crystal 4 Sh Superhybrid is one of the quietest projectors on the market. Finally, as its name suggests, the Crystal 4 Sh Superhybrid is housed in an crystal glass-based cabinet to be aesthetically pleasing. It comes in either white or black glass finish and has an invisible glass “back door” to hide the inputs, cables and connectors.
Display market analyst firm PMA Research follows trends in the projector market, and provides syndicated reports containing sell-in and sell-through data on projectors. Recent findings show a solid uptick in home theater projectors as consumers look for ways entertain themselves at home amid the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, sales of laser-phosphor models are also doing well.
