At CES 2023, Samsung announced upgrades to their Freestyle and Premier projectors. The Freestyle 2023 will allow two Freestyle devices to seamlessly pair together in order to create a larger synchronized image than the previous model. The Premiere ultra-short throw projector has been upgraded to 8K resolution.
Upgrades to The Freestyle include Samsung’s smart TV platform and features its Gaming Hub and also provides access to services such as Xbox Cloud Gaming, Amazon Luna and NVIDIA GeForce Now for cloud gaming. The Freestyle now offers a triple-laser light source and Edge Blending capabilities so users can combine two projectors into a single ultra-wide display with a 21:9 aspect ratio. Samsung says new technology includes keystone correction and additional image adjustments for “an even more immersive cinematic experience.” It also features SmartThings and Samsung Health. Finally, the new Freestyle abandons the previous can-like design for a tower-like shape. There are very few details on pricing, availability or full specs available at the moment.
The Premiere 8K projector builds upon the older 4K projector with the same name, and it can display a 150-inch diagonal image on any surface. The ultra-short throw 8K projector offers a true Smart TV experience, complete with Dolby Atmos cinema surround sound, support for OTT apps, and other features found on the new 8K smart TVs. It is, of course, and ultra-short throw projector and has a laser light source. Again, there are no details yet on pricing, availability or full specs.
