This week Epson launched a new home entertainment line of Home Entertainment projectors. Dubbed EpiqVision™ Ultra, their new projectors employ advanced laser-array technology, dedicated screen options and an easy-to-navigate Android TV system. Kicking off the new line is the Epson EpiqVision™ Ultra LS500 4K PRO-UHD Laser Projection TV. Epson is pairing this ultra short-throw projector with a custom built, 120-inch screen, which was designed specifically for the LS500. This high-resolution ambient light rejecting screen allows for a wide-angle viewing experience with virtually zero glare.
The LS500 utilizes Epson’s 4K PRO-UHD4 Projection Technology. This advanced processing enhances resolution, color and image processing to ensure an extremely sharp picture. In addition, advanced 10-bit HDR5 processing allows the projector to accept 100 percent of the source information to fully reproduce HDR content for enhanced visual performance. The LS500 has a brightness level of 4,000 lumens for both color and white content, and is designed for all-day viewing in virtually any lighting environment.
Epson’s advanced 3-chip 3LCD technology is capable of displaying the Rec.709 color space, and this EpiqVision™ ultra-short throw projector has a dynamic contrast ratio of up to 2,000,000:1 via an advanced black density control that individually pulses the laser light to precisely suppress stray light within the signal for incredibly deep blacks. Enhanced digital picture processing is achieved via real-time 12-bit analog-to-digital video processing for smooth transitions. The enhanced processing features also eliminate banding, blocking and other compression artifacts.
Additional features include the latest 18 Gbps HDMI 2.0 with ARC Support, making the LS500 fully compatible with virtually all color formats, depths and spaces, while simultaneously supporting most 4K HDR4 content at a full 60 Hz. The Android TV operating system has a simple-to-use remote, including voice search with built-in Google Assistant, making it simple to stream live TV with popular apps.
The Epson LS500 Laser Projection TV is available in either black or white with the bundled 100-inch screen (MSRP $4,999) or 120-inch screen (MSRP $5,999). It is currently shipping from Epson and available through select Retailers and CEDIA Integrators.
