NEC Display Solutions has announced two new projectors in their PX installation series, the PX700W and PX800X. The new feature packed units are geared towards large venue applications and installations requiring high light output. These projectors have dual-lamp capabilities, can be stacked vertically or horizontally, offer a wide array of inputs and are network-ready via RJ45 connection. Wireless capability is offered as an option, as are six different lenses.
The 1-chip DLP units (WXGA PX700W and XGA PX800X) are each 8000 lumens and have a 2100:1 contract ratio. The projectors use Open Pluggable Specification (OPS), the first industry-wide standardization in option slots. Advanced connectivity includes HDMI, DisplayPort, USB Viewer, three analog computer inputs, composite and S-Video. The PX 700W and PX800X also offer lens-shift capabilities, edge-blending technology and cornerstone / geometric correction.
The PX700W and PX800X will begin shipping this month for $8799 and $8689, respectively.
According to Pacific Media’s Monthly Reseller Tracking Service, NEC’s high-end units have been selling well. In October, NEC had the top two selling 5000+ projectors. Based on NEC’s track record with large-venue projectors, these new offerings should do well.
