Four of seven new models in JVC’s Procision and Reference series projector line-up now incorporate e-Shift technology. A collaboration between JVC and NHK, e-Shift is a pixel-doubling technology which allows viewers to see sub-frames and sub-pixels, essentially doubling the resolution of the images to 3840 x 2160. New D-ILA models incorporating e-Shift are the Procision DLA-X90R and DLA-X70R. Reference series models using this up-conversion technology are the DLA-RS65 and the DLA-RS55. These four models have been designed to achieve THX® 3D certification and are currently scheduled for testing by THX.
Also recently announced were the Procision DLA-X30R and Reference DLA-RS4800 and DLA-RS45. All 7 new 3D projectors offer 2D to 3Dconversion, have anamorphic lens options for 2.35:1 viewing, include improved shutter technology in the glasses, and incorporate parallax adjustment abilities (which allow the viewer to tailor the “strength” of the 3D effect). All will ship in November and prices range from $3,499 to $11,999.
At the recent CEDIA tradeshow, Pacific Media noted that, as 3D projectors become more popular, the higher-end home theater projector companies are making great 3D projectors more accessible. These JVC units priced between $4,000 and $12,000 are a great example of that.
