InFocus has announced two new ultra-short-throw projectors – the IN134UST and IN136UST for the education market. The projectors can be mounted over already-installed whiteboards or interactive whiteboards with the new PRJ-WALLKIT-13, an ultra-short throw wall arm mount. They also feature 3D technology that supports numerous platforms, including computers, 3D Blu-ray and 3D content from cable and dish providers. The ultra-short throw projectors also come with built-in 20-watt speakers.
The IN136UST WXGA projector can project a 100-inch image at up to 3300 lumens from a distance of only 16.6 inches. The IN134UST is capable of projecting XGA-quality video at up to 2800 lumens onto an 85-inch surface from a distance of just 16.4 inches. The series can project 1.07 billion colors at a 10,000:1 contrast ratio. While running in Eco Mode, these projectors offer lowered power consumption and an extended lamp life of up to 8,000 hours.
Both projectors are now shipping. The IN134UST has an MSRP of $1,049 and the IN136UST has an MSRP of $1,199.
Analyst firm PMA Research recently released their latest projector industry forecast, and ultra-short-throw units are one of the bright spots. PMA expects the number of UST units shipping to double by 2016.
