FUJIFILM Corporation has begun shipping the FUJIFILM PROJECTOR Z5000 (FP-Z5000), an ultra-short throw projector equipped with the world’s first* “folded two-axial rotatable lens” to enable omnidirectional image projection without moving the main projector unit. This allows the FP-Z5000 to be set up in places where a conventional projector could not be placed because of space constraints, and enables the unit to throw images in multiple directions without moving the unit. As projector use changes from more traditional markets such as corporate, education and cinema, to applications for digital signage, retail, entertainment venues and museums, the need for projectors to be used in limited space has increased. Ultra-short throw projectors, like the FP-Z5000 have become increasingly popular. With the FP-Z5000 allowing for spatial presentation using walls and ceilings, use-case possibilities are greatly increased,
FP-Z5000 is equipped with the folded two-axial rotatable lens developed with Fujifilm’s cutting-edge optical technology nurtured through the development of FUJINON lens. It gives this projector a capability of directing the lens up, down, front, rear, left and right to project images in various directions without having to move the main unit. This means it can project images not only on a wall or screen but also on the ceiling and floor, and easily switch between vertical and horizontal display. The use of the ultra-short throw lens makes it possible to project images on a 100-inch screen from just 75cm from the screen or wall. The FP-Z5000 incorporates a Lens Shift function of up to 82% vertically and 35% horizontally makes it easy to adjust the position of projected images across a wide range. The FP-Z5000 uses large-diameter spherical and aspherical lens elements, based on Fujifilm’s advanced optical design, and employs a laser light source for long-life. This reduces distortion and produces an edge-to-edge image for stable projection of bright and vivid images.
The FP-Z5000 is a single-chip DLP model and has 5,000 lumens of brightness. It has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and a contrast ratio of 12,000:1. It has an onboard 10W speaker. Connectivity includes multiple HDMI inputs, RJ-45 and USB connections. The model comes in both black and white housing color options and is shipping with an MSRP of $12,000.
In their latest Worldwide Market Forecast for Projectors, display market analyst firm PMA Research estimates that worldwide shipments of short-throw and ultra-short-throw projectors will reach more than 1.3 million units annually by 2022.
