At the recent NAB trade show, Epson was featuring the industry’s first 7,000 lumen, XGA resolution, single-lamp projector, the PowerLite Pro G6800, from their new PowerLite Pro G series lineup. The models range in lumens from 4,500 to 7,000 and come in XGA, WXGA and WUXGA resolutions.
This new series offers seven projector models with features such as edge blending, 360-degree installation, optional lenses, and advanced connectivity options, including HDBaseT and HD-SDI . Ranging from 4,500 to 7,000 lumens with a single lamp, the projectors are designed for use in medium to large custom installation projects.
Epson has upgraded the video processing technologies in this new series as well, with improved frame interpolation for fast motion video, and they have included the Faroudja DCDi chipset to enhance video deinterlacing. The Pro G-series also utilizes C2Fine™ Technology for darker blacks and enhanced color quality.
The PowerLite Pro G series models will roll-out between April and July of this year with MSRP’s ranging from $3,599 to $5,999.
Recent findings from PMA Research show that sales of large-venue projectors with advanced features continue to out-perform the mainstream projector market. These new units from Epson should be well received by the installation market.
