Epson is now shipping its latest large-venue 20,000 lumen laser projector. The Pro L20000UNL delivers premium projection with enhanced installation tools in a compact form factor. The new projector features interchangeable interface boards and a sealed light engine and optical unit. It comes with easy to use software tools for simple multi-projector setup, and is compatible with Epson’s current lens family to allow for integration with existing lens fleets.
This new model is offered in black (Pro L20000UNL) or white (Pro L20002UNL) and both offer up to 20,000 lumens of equal color and white brightness with advanced 3-chip, 3LCD technology. They have Full HD WUXGA (1920 x 1200) resolution, and accept 4K content to provide 2.3 million pixels on screen. The solid-state laser light source ensures these projectors are virtually maintenance-free. They are quipped with advanced tools like automated tiling assist, Edge Blending and auto-color adjustment for fast installation, plus free software allowing for multi-projector setup.
A wide range of optional lenses are available, and the Pro L20000UNL and Pro L20002UNL are compatible with Epson’s current lens family, including a zero-offset ultra short-throw lens (sold separately). In addition, two interchangeable interface boards accommodate a wide range of inputs for connectivity in any large-venue application or rental and staging situation. They support High Dynamic Range (HDR) via HDR10 (PQ) and Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) with a BT.709 color space. These new projectors feature a sealed light engine and optical unit ensuring durability for both live events and fixed installations. Finally a mechanical shutter protects against damage from external laser light.
The Epson Pro L20000UNL and Pro L20002UNL projectors are available now through authorized resellers. The laser projectors come with a limited warranty of three years or 20,000 hours, whichever comes first.
Analyst firm PMA Research follows the display market. Their recent market sizing reports show a generally sluggish market, however Laser projectors represent a bight spot. While Laser projectors only represent about 10% of total units shipped worldwide, they account for about 40% of projector market revenues.
