Four new PowerLite 1700 series projectors weigh in at 3.7 pounds and are 1.7 inches tall – which Epson claims are the world’s thinnest 3LCD projectors available. The XGA resolution PowerLite 1751 and WXGA resolution PowerLite 1761W are both 2600 lumens. These models will sell for $649 and $799, respectively. Rounding out the series is the PowerLite 1771W and PowerLite 1776W – both 3,000 lumens and priced at $999 and $1,099, respectively.
All 1700 series models have HDMI connectivity, USB Plug-n-Play, and PC-Free presentation capabilities. The 1761W, 1771W and 1776W models have wireless networking capabilities via an 802.11 b/g/n module and can leverage Epson’s iProjection app to present from newer Apple iOS devices. The 1776W also includes a Quick-Connect Wireless USB Key which automatically creates an ad-hoc wireless network.
Projector market research by Pacific Media Associates suggests that feature-packed XGA and WXGA projectors continue to gain market share, so Epson’s new models should be well received.
