At the NAB trade show in Las Vegas earlier this month, Christie showed an industry first — a 4K resolution, 3-Chip DLP projector which runs at 60 Hz. The new D4K series is comprised of two models, the D4K2560 and D4K3560 projectors, which will replace the Christie D4K25 and D4K35 models.
These new 4096 x 2160 resolution projectors are also the first to employ Christies upgraded TruLife electronics platform, which was designed to provide enhanced image quality and a more “comfortable” and realistic viewing experience at 60 Hz.
These new models are geared towards use in amusement park attractions, live events, exhibitions and virtual design applications. These models will begin shipping in June 2013. The Christie D4K2560 has a list price is US $125,995 and the Christie D4K3560 has a list price is US $161,995.
Despite a still sluggish projector market, PMA Research has found that the high-end projector segment continues to outperform the overall market and that people in need of high-end projectors continue to purchase the latest and greatest for technology improvements.
