The integration kit has two configuration options – a compact stacking system for 3D applications or a second configuration which aligns pixels for optimal 2D or 3D movies. The Duo’s automation features allow for easy calibration, alignment and image optimization.
Christie says the the Duo system was in response to movie theater owners requests for a flexible and economical solution for delivering a premium cinema experience.
The Christie Duo had its debut in Shanghai during late December 2011, and will be shown in the US at CinemaCon 2012 this spring in Las Vegas.
Projector market research firm Pacific Media Associates has been following the Digital Cinema market since its inception. Christie’s Duo solution sounds like it is geared towards the independent movie house owners who have struggled with the high costs associated with upgrading to digital and 3D.
