Casio’s Unique Twist for Digital Signage

March 8, 2012

At the Digital Signage Expo this week, Casio formally launched a very unique digital signage solution called the “Virtual Presenter”.  The Virtual Presenter combines a discreet projector with a specially designed 3M screen that has been cut to look like a live presenter. Via a projected presentation, the Virtual Presenter can address an audience as a live presenter would.

One of the biggest challenges in using projectors for digital signage has been the frequency and costs associated with lamp replacement, due to extended run-time hours in a commercial space. Casio’s Laser & LED Hybrid “lamp-free” projectors have a life expectancy of 20,000 hours.

With 3,000 lumens and the ability to project horizontally and vertically, the Virtual Presenter can tackle any digital signage application. Casio envisions the product being used in hospitality environments such as hotels, casinos and visitor centers, as well as education environments like museums. Since it never requires a lunch break…it makes for a great trade show employee too!

Research from Pacific Media Associates has shown that digital signage applications have traditionally favored the use of flat panels. This new Casio product should help to dispel the misconception that projectors don’t work well for digital signage.
