Initially previewed at ISE in February 2019, Barco has now launched their G60 series laser projectors for the professional A/V market. The G60 Series consists of three single-chip, WUXGA (1920 x 1200) DLP models, the 7,000 lumen G60-W7, the 8,000 lumen G60-W8 at 8,000, and the 10,000 lumen G60-W10. All three models are available in either black or white. With a relatively small footprint, these new projectors are geared towards mid-size venues that require high brightness projection, such as corporate boardrooms and small auditoriums, classrooms and lecture halls, houses of worship, museums, and retail applications.
The laser phosphor light source used in the G60 Series is rated for 20,000 hours, and these new models boast a 100,000:1 contrast ratio (when the Extreme Black processing setting is utilized). All the projectors feature Barco’s Sealed DLP Core technology to keep the optics dust-free. Other features of note include support for 3D, as well as embedded warp and edge-blending via Barco’s Projector Toolset software, which also allows for remote management of the projectors.
The G60s are compatible with six lens options supporting short-to-long throw installations. They also come standard with long-range lens shift, up to 100% vertical and 30% horizontal, as well as keystone correction and support for full 360 degree orientation with no restrictions. An integrated HDBaseT connection supports long-distance cable runs for even more flexibility.
A recent channel market report from PMA Research, the premier display market analyst firm, showed that the seven top-selling +5,000 lumen projectors in the North American Pro AV channel utilized a Laser light source. In addition, laser-based projectors showed strong year-over-year gains in both units and revenues.
