Projector maker Acer recently announced their new Laser/LED hybrid projector, the K520. The unit boasts a DymanicBlack 100,000:1 contrast ratio, 2000 lumens brightness, is 1024 x 768 resolution and will support a full HD signal. The K520 also supports 3D.
The Laser/LED hybrid light source is said to improve brightness and widen the color gamut, while increasing the life of the projector to 20,000 hours. Additional “green” features include an instant on/off feature.
Projector market research firm Pacific Media Associates has been following the emergence of these alternative light sources for some time, and have found through it’s recent surveys that “greenness” is a key decision factor when buying projectors – for schools, businesses and individuals.
