ZTE has announced pricing and availability for its “smart” projector – the LivePro. The new DLP pico projector has an Android interface, a power bank, and also serves as a mobile hot-spot device. The LivePro is available exclusively through Sprint.
The LivePro can prject a 1080p image and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor running Android 4.2. It offers 100 lumens and also has a built-in speaker and integrated 4-inch touchscreen. Connectivity includes USB and HDMI ports and the projector also offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and LTE Network support for playing and streaming media from various sources. In addition, the LivePro has the ability to connect up to eight other mobile devices to the projector’s Sprint 4G LTE Spark network or Wi-Fi connection.
ZTE’s LivePro is available now through Sprint with an MSRP of $450.
Analyst firm PMA Research has been following the Pico and Personal projector market since its inception, and there have been many interesting mobile embedded projectors, such as projectors embedded in phones, cameras and camcorders. This is the first mobile hotspot device we’ve seen with an embedded projector. With the increase in second-screen TV and media viewing with Smartphones and tablets, the ZTE unit is intriguing.
