Projector manufacturer Xgimi has announced their latest projector, the Magic Lamp, which combines a projector, ceiling light and Bluetooth speaker into one device. This space-saving solution, resolves the question of where to place a projector, and ensures the image won’t be obstructed by someone walking in front of the projector during movie night. It’s ceiling mounted positioning also avoids any light being shone directly into viewers eyes, providing a safe home theater experience.
XGIMI developed and manufactured a new optical engine for the Magic Lamp specifically geared towards the ceiling lamp form factor. Different from other short-throw and ultra-short-throw projectors on the market, the XGIMI Magic Lamp has a non-destructive extra-wide axis shift with a 32-degree angle. When projected onto a 100-inch screen, the height of the screen can be freely adjusted up and down within a range of 1 meter, allowing users to lower the height as much as they like.
The projector has a 1080p resolution and brightness of 900 ANSI lumens. The projector will have various IoT integration options, such as the ability to load apps for streaming or to connect to a LAN to play content. XGIMI is also offering a wireless HDMI solution for connecting game consoles, computers, and other equipment. The Magic Lamp will include a built-in Harmon Kardon sound system.
The Xgimi Magic Lamp will initially be released in China at a cost of 7,999 RMB ($1,170 USD) and will debut to the public at the upcoming IFA Show in Berlin.
