Texas based LCOS developer Syndiant took the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) as an opportunity to reveal several new products and reference designs.
mi-Stand is a turn-key iPad, iPhone and iPod desktop stand reference design that incorporates a pico projector, camera and extended battery. The embedded projector can display content from the inserted device at up to 100″ diagonal, while the camera enables interactive gesture recognition while the built-in battery extends run time. mi-Stand can utilize various Syndiant imagers to achieve different resolutions and brightness levels.
Syndiant introduced a new system reference design kit that combines their imagers with components from Osram (LEDs), Greenlight Optics (polarizing beam splitter), imagineOptix (PG polarization conversion system) and others. The new design kit streamlines pico projector development for augmented reality, smartphone/tablet accessories and many other applications.
Syndiant also demonstrated the M2000AR projector based Head Up Display (HUD) from Vusix. This augmented reality eyewear combines Syndiant’s SYL2271 LCOS panel, LEDs and Vusix’s patented see through waveguide into a HUD system that is well suited to industrial applications. The system produces 400 nits (full color) or 1,200 nits (monochrome – green) at 720p (1,280×720) resolution.
LCOS imagers from Syndiant are found in a variety of projector models from top selling brands tracked by PMA Research’s projector market analysis.
