Japanese camera maker Nikon has released an update to the file transfer application that enables their COOLPIX S1200pj projector camera to display files from a connected Apple mobile device. The free iP-PJ app uses the iOS cable that Nikon bundles with the camera and supports still images in thumbnail and full-frame formats. In addition to video taken with the camera, streaming YouTube content can also be projected. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe PDF documents can be displayed, permitting mobile PC-Free presentations. iP-PJ can also transfer files from the camera to the phone via iTunes on a connected computer. iPhone 4, iPad, iPad 2 and the 4th generation iPod Touch running iOS versions 4.0 – 4.3 are supported. The updated application is currently available through the Apple Appstore at no cost.
As Apple’s iPhone continues to dominate the Smartphone market, PMA’s projector market research reveals that it is now almost mandatory for manufacturers to offer cables to connect their projectors directly to Apple mobile devices.
