U.S. LED maker Luminus announced that it has merged with LED component manufacturer Lightera. Lightera is a wholly owned U.S. affiliate of San’an Optoelectronics, a manufacturer of LED wafers and chips with headquarters in Xiamen China. Luminus will operate as an independent business unit/subsidiary of Lightera and plans to continue focusing on specialty markets and applications.
Luminus has enjoyed wide success providing its “Big Chip” LED illumination for many Pico/Personal and Mainstream models. They also offer illumination products for other applications, including lighting, signs, medical equipment and UV curing. The merger with San’an should provide Luminus with the benefit of added and expanded capability and financial backing coupled from a global LED technology R&D team.
In the industries most complete market research, PMA Research closely follows developments in the Pico Projector supply chain, including imagers, optics and illumination, where Luminus products play an important role.
