AXXA Technologies introduced the P4 Pico Projector. While all previous AAXA models have been LCOS based, this new model uses a Texas Instruments DLP imager and produces 80 lumens at WVGA (854×480) resolution with 2,000:1 contrast ratio. Also included is a 2GB Personal Media Player based on Windows CE (WinCE) that can display image, video and office files from the SD card slot. By adding the optional wireless keyboard, the P4 becomes a complete portable computer. AAXA has chosen not to lock the operating system, thereby allowing users to install third party WinCE applications. Optional cables are available to connect the projector to an iPod, Zune, iPhone, iPad or Sony Play Station Portable (PSP) handheld game console. VGA and Composite Video inputs enable connections to a notebook computer or other device. The P4 Pico Projector is currently available at a retail price of US$339.
Over the past several quarters, PMA’s projector market research has witnessed the introduction of brighter battery powered projectors with advanced features, like WinCE and Android based PMPs and the ability to display or even edit office documents.
