The new TH-86CQ1U from Panasonic is an 86” professional TV with 4K UHD resolution and 400 nits of brightness to provide crisp detailed imaging of content. It has a built-in tuner so that it can be used as a TV or a display for presentation purposes and is suitable for use in offices, schools and sports bars. It is impact resistant and designed for 16/7 continuous operation. The TH-86CQ1U can also be utilized for digital signage applications. It has a USB media player and offers synchronized playback on multiple displays via USB and LAN.
The TH-86CQ1U is the largest screen size for Panasonic’s new CQ1 Series of 4K UHD Professional TVs. The other five screen sizes available are 75”, 65”, 55”, 50” and 43”. The range of sizes provides a match for a variety of spaces and applications. The built-in tuner allows the versatility for the unit to serve both as a presentation display in a conference room or a classroom and as a TV for live broadcasts of news, entertainment or sports. Installation can be flat or with a forward inclination of up to 20 degrees to maintain legibility when mounted in high places.
The CQ1 Series has a Sports mode for viewing the dynamic images of live sports along with a menu of five other viewing modes. This allows the user to select the best mode for the video source and viewing environment of the display. The other five viewing modes are Dynamic, Standard, Cinema, Graphic and Custom. The built-in speakers conveniently eliminate the need to connect external speakers.
HDMI-CEC compatible devices can be connected to the display by an HDMI cable, enabling the basic operations of those devices to be controlled by the display’s remote control. The TH-86CQ1 can also be controlled by LAN or RS-232C. Users can configure the display into their existing control system and they also have the ability to control several devices simultaneously.
The CQ1 Series of professional TVs also feature dynamic contrast, which automatically adjusts the contrast by determining the changes in the use of colors for images of the input signal that constantly change. Another feature the CQ1 models offer is dynamic backlight control that adapts to the input signal and adjusts the backlight brightness to enhance contrast and reduce total power consumption.
PMA Research, the experts in large-format display sell-through data, reported that the July 2019 unit volume through U.S. distribution for professional TVs with screen sizes between 80” and 89” increased 20% year-over-year and has sky-rocketed on a percentage basis for units in that segment that also feature 4K UHD resolution.
