Newline Interactive has updated their RS Series of interactive displays and named it the RS+ Series. These interactive displays are designed to bring more collaboration to the workplace and more student engagement to the classroom, either locally or remotely. Available in three screen sizes, 65, 75 and 86-inch, the RS+ Series model numbers are TT-6519RS, TT-7519RS and TT-8619RS, respectively. The 98-inch model from the original RS Series has not been assigned a new model number.
In addition to the 4K UHD display and 20 simultaneous IR touch points in Windows (10 in Android), the RS+ Series offers several user-friendly collaborative features. One of these is the ability to broadcast content or present wirelessly from a personal device, and invite up to 200 participants to connect from their own. Another is its workspace feature, which allows participants to collaborate, annotate and co-edit documents from different locations through its video-chat, whiteboard and document editing functions.
The RS+ Series has an embedded 8.0 Android operating system and several integrated tools. Upgrades from the original RS Series include 3 GB RAM and a more powerful CPU. If even more computing power is desired, the RS+ Series is built with an OPS slot to onboard an optional OPS PC. Compatibility between user devices is not a problem because the RS+ Series is compatible with iOS, Windows and Android.
The RS+ Series also offers an intuitive touch experience. The digital whiteboard supports object recognition and recognizes the difference between a finger, stylus or palm and then reacts accordingly on the screen as a marker, thin pen or eraser.
Beyond the ability to cast and share screens, the RS+ Series has other useful built-in apps that allow the user to schedule meetings, manage e-mails, save and open files with the cloud and work with documents.
PMA Research, the large-screen sell-through data experts, reported that on a year-over-year basis, February 2020 unit sales for interactive displays increased 46% through the U.S. distribution channel.
