Barco is adding to their long history in LED technology with the introduction of their newest Direct View LED display product, the XT series. Over the past few years, high-resolution LED has become a core technology in the large-format display market and its use cases are growing. While Direct View LED displays have typically been used in Pro AV and Event applications, Barco’s new XT series offers the seamless image quality, performance, 24/7 reliability and operating versatility to make it suitable in many more environments, including mission critical ones. The XT LED platform offers features to maximize uptime including redundancy of both power and data along with other features such as advance notification of issues to avoid downtime.
The XT series is a high-performance future-proof Direct View LED tile solution that could be safely chosen for many indoor applications including control rooms, broadcast studios, flagship venues, corporate lobbies, visitor centers, boardrooms, design centers, digital prototyping labs and virtual reality settings.
With 16:9 being the most common aspect ratio for most video content, it is more cohesive to have a visualization canvas with the same format. Each 27” Direct View LED XT tile has a 16:9 aspect ratio which makes it easy to create native Full HD or UHD screens. This allows the full display of 16:9 formatted video content without compression, distortion or unused canvas. The XT series includes four models, with pixel pitches of 0.9, 1.2, 1.5 and 1.9 mm. This pixel pitch range offers users the ability to choose the size that best suits their application. For example, a 4×4 configuration of XT 1.2 tiles results in a native Full HD resolution display.
Barco’s field-proven image processing solution InfinipixTM offers excellent image quality in both maximum brightness and dimmed modes and is ensured to stay constant over time – a feature Barco is proud to offer. Also with InfinipixTM, no image tearing or video hiccups occur with fast-moving images. This creates a pleasant viewing experience that is further optimized through the easy alignment and patented camera-supported seam correction technology from Barco.
The XT series is built to be robust which makes the installation process easier and reduces the risk of damage to the tiles. The LED displays are designed for wall mounting, so they are fully accessible from the front and have a shallow profile. The Assisted Module Extraction feature enables tiles to be easily removed for maintenance or replacement. The XT series is backed by a 3-year warranty and is scheduled to start shipping in July 2019.
PMA Research, the large-format display market data experts, have reported a year-over-year increase in Direct View LED video wall sales in their monthly sell-through data reports that cover the major sales channels in North America.
