BenQ has introduced the BR9708, a 4K projector designed for immersive attractions such as dark rides, simulation platforms, and compact entertainment installations where accurate color directly influences the guest experience.
The model offers true 4K UHD resolution, 2600 lumens, a 16:9 aspect ratio and covers 100% of both the DCI-P3 and Rec. 709 color spaces. It has a native contrast ratio of 1200:1. These features enable the projector to achieve lifelike skin tones, vivid blacks, and exceptional shadow detail without requiring filters or complex calibration. BenQ states that the BR9708 is a game-changer for attraction operators looking for cinema-grade immersion at a fraction of the cost of competing DCI solutions. This new projector was developed specifically to deliver high-end color performance and visual depth at a price point accessible to a wider range of operators.
To support installations where multiple units must deliver identical output, the BR9708 ships with a seven-point factory calibration routine. This ensures color consistency across multi-projector applications or projection-mapped environments can be achieved with minimal post-processing. The projector also incorporates an automated blending-ready feature that adapts gamma and color parameters between units and assists with image alignment. These capabilities allow users to reduce setup time. The BR9708 also employs remote device management with both RJ45 and RS232 connectivity.
For additional installation flexibility, BenQ offers several available interchangeable lenses. The BR9708 has 50% vertical and 35% horizontal shift, 360-degree installation capability and keystone correction to simplify placement in tight or irregular spaces. The BR9708 has short-throw capabilities and a 1.6x optical zoom. It is also rated for 24/7 operation, and the laser-light engine is rated for 20,000 hours of use and offers quiet operation at just 30dB. Further, the sealed, dust-resistant optical system and precision calibration tools are intended to minimize service requirements once the system is installed.
BenQ is positioning the BR9708 as a mid-tier option for attraction operators looking to upgrade their visual systems at a price-point far lower than premium theatrical projectors. The MSRP for the BR9708 is $8,800.
